2017 Goals
2017 has just rolled in and people are writing down their new goals and resolutions (get in shape, be more active, be more positive, etc.). But starting new goals can come with come a lot of challenges that people don’t always overcome, or even understand. But don’t worry - you’re not the only one. Statistics show that less than 8% of Americans’ feel their New Year resolutions were successful! Why, you might ask? That’s what I’m here for.
Reason #1: The dirty word PROCRASTINATION (hint: I’m writing Saturday night). It happens to everyone. Ways to avoid it: Break a single goal into smaller, more manageable pieces instead of trying to accomplish it all at once. Reward your progress so you have something to work towards. Keep yourself organized with a schedule.
Reason #2: Coping with failure. When we try something and fall down the first couple of times with little success, we tend to quickly lose interest and quit. Ways to avoid it: Don't jump too far ahead when starting a goal. It's never a bad idea to start small. Be prepared for some bumps in the road, and have a plan for dealing with failures and setbacks.
