Being part of
SheShreds.co family is a huge thing for me since there are not so many female shredders around my sports in Finland. I’ve always used to shred with guys so these connections and support from girls who shred are super important to me. I’m also very happy to be one of the girls who can help other girls into the sports and spread the word.
What challenges do you face being a female in the sport?I think the most challenging part of being a female freeskier especially in Finland is that there are not so many girls participating competitions and events. It is not so much fun to compete by yourself since then you cannot push your limits and progress as well as you could if there were more ladies competing, too. I’ve used to ski with guys my whole life, that’s not the problem, but I wish there were more girls in the comps.
Where is the most unusual place you have done your sport?Kinda hard to say actually what kind of place is unusual for freeskiing since we do it in the backcountry any way but I think for me it was in the Swedish mountains since we don’t have any real mountains here in Finland and I do not get a chance to go up to Sweden or Norway that often.
What has been your most memorable moment so far?I think is was my first ever freeride competition. I’ve been competing my whole life in different sports but after I switched from alpine skiing to freeskiing I had couple of years break from competitions. When I got back into competing it was something so amazingly great and the bonus part was that I got the second place on the podium!
Who/what are your inspirations?Actually my source of inspiration comes outside of freeskiing world. She is Sally Fitzgibbons, a pro surfer from Australia. I believe she doesn’t need that much of a introduction here but she is amazing. She works really hard for her dreams and sport and is such a good example to all female athletes, no matter what sport you are into.
Favorite thing about SheShreds products?
My favorite SheShreds products are definitely the aztec leggings and the camo snapback which we had in stock last year.
