This is the type of thing that propels us to do what we do. Gold Ambassador Jenna Malcolm volunteered her time last week to help spread her love of watersports to some kids that would not otherwise have had the opportunity to ever do something like this. Jenna is a fantastic ambassador and all around person, and we are proud to have her on the crew and share her quick post about this!
Thursday I volunteered at a nonprofit organization called Wake The World. The organization annually takes kids that live in group homes / foster care out on the lake for the day and teaches them all about water sports and the love of the water!!
I got a group of 3 girls on my boat for the day...one of the girls had NEVER been on a boat, in a lake, or even swimming before. She was terrified and very reserved to get in the water at first for the fear of "diseases" in the lake and drowning.
After the other two girls had started swimming, I just asked her if she wanted to try and sit on the platform of the boat..which she did..and eventually got in the water, and we taught her how to swim.
By the end of the day she constantly wanted to swim, tube, and WAKEBOARD!!! She also was the ONLY one of the group who got up on the wakeboard and rode alllll the way down the lake!
My heart is so full that I could've been a part of this experience with her and she got over her fears and found a new love of watersports ❤❤❤ (She's the one in the water while I'm teaching)
