Cate Siniscalchi Brings New Meaning to the Phrase "Live Life to the Fullest"

by Alex Parsons on December 18, 2018

This Ambassador's inspirational story, and amazing outlook on life will blow you away!

The whole idea for this video started when I first met my friend Mitch.  He asked me what my story was. Mitch didn't know anything about me so I was super surprised that he asked me, and I just said you really want the whole thing? I started explaining everything I had been through and then he asked if we could make a little documentary.

Cate's Diagnosis:
Dysautonomia
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome
Ehlers Danlos Syndrome
Chiari Malformation
Carniocervical Instability
Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome
Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome

Cate made this video to support others with rare illnesses, while also giving the people who are going through any kind of difficult situation a little perspective and inspiration.

From Cate:

All of the health conditions I have are super rare, (I have a mutated gene that literally makes me one in a million), and it took me over 2 years to even get my first diagnosis.   I know a lot of people have had to wait even longer for doctors to figure things out. So I wanted to raise awareness for sure - and I know a lot of people know I am sick but they don't know what I have, so I figured making a video and throwing the names in there would be best.

Next, I really wanted to show people that you can look healthy and sill have a body that sucks. I have had a lot of people, including professors and employers who could not understand that just because I look good, it doesn't mean I feel good.

And Lastly, I really wanted to help people to realize that everyone has something bad in their life, but it is up to each person to decide how to handle that situation. I believe that the reason I am still able to wakeboard, rock climb, etc. is because of my positive attitude towards my life. I want people to know that everyone should accept and embrace their flaws, because we all have them. And, being sick doesn't lessen my value. People tend to hide their flaws, but our flaws are what make us unique.  So in a way, my illnesses are what make me, me.  And if you have a passion for something, whether that is art, working out, mma fighting; whatever your passion is, go for it.  Don't let the "what if's" stop you.  You have your passions for a reason, so don't let your passions fade because of fear, instead leave them ignited and chase them with all of your might.
