What does SheShredsCo mean to you?
I am one of the older ladies in the crew and how I would have loved to have a group like this when I was younger. I had nobody to wakeboard/ride with when I started out and as wakeboarding was a new sport back then, it was hard to persuade anyone to join me. Being part of the SheShredsCo gang you see all these girls supporting each other, encouraging each other to go and get on it. I enjoy being part of this growing movement of girls, who are out there pushing themselves at their sport. It has been amazing seeing some of what these girls have achieved through their sports and such a wide variety of sports too. Being an ambassador I have pushed myself further with my own wakeboarding and even dipped my toe in a few new sports. Why did I join? I liked founder Gina Duffy’s ethos of why she started the company, where she sees it going. It has not just been about supporting a young company to sell some rad clothes, it’s becoming more about the rad girls within the company!
What challenges do you face being a female in the sport?
I don't compete so I haven't come up against as many challenges as other females in their sports. I still often find no one knows what wakeboarding is and I am often having to explain. Quite a few friends don't expect me to be any good and I do find it hard to get friends to come and play with me at the wakepark!
Where is the most unusual place you have done your sport?
Well it's not quite the same but I have stood in a fish box and been pulled behind a Land Rover down country lanes one very wintery/icey night!
What has been your most memorable moment so far?
Managing to beat my nemsis, corner 3 on the wake cable at Box End Park, Bedford.
Who/what are your inspirations Favorite thing about SheShreds products?
Gina Duffy and why she started this company. Creating comfortable street clothing for females where as much as the proceeds as possible go to supporting girls and women in their chosen sports. It's great that the Ambassadors are allowed to have input in what products may go into production and even help with designing.
