What’s an average day for you like?: During the week I go to work and then some crossfit action. On a typical weekend we hit the water at 8am so we can do some sets to practice new tricks. Our friends or family arrive around 1 or 2 to learn the basics and have some fun. Around 5 when the water starts to settle down we switch to wakeskate.
What is the most difficult part of your activity/sports for a beginner? For wakeboarding is to get comfortable with the board and RELAX!. The easiest? Once you trust yourself and the board everything else is just pure fun
What is the best and worst thing about being female in your sport? The best part is to see other girls try it just because they saw you do it!. The worst: The community of girl riders in Mexico is really really small. We need more events and competitions to grow the interest on wakeboarding.
What would you like to see change in your sport to make it better for you and other female athletes? More accessible installations and opportunities to ride. In Mexico wakeboard lessons are very expensive, unless you own a boat or have a friend who owns one is close to impossible to learn and practice wakeboarding. It would help a lot to have cable parks also (there is only one in the whole country :S).
Besides your ability and style factor as an athlete, how would you describe your personal style? Very casual and sporty. I don’t get along with heels at all.
Let’s hear your thoughts on how important looking good is to feeling good. “Being” your personal best? When you do any sport you have to learn how to be OK with a your sweaty/soked face, messy hair, uneven tans, ripped hands, bruised legs and arms etc.. Once you stop worrying about those things and start embracing them your head clears out and the only thing that matters it to land that new trick, lift 5 more pounds, run that extra mile or learn how to get up after you fall 100 times.
How dangerous do u really think it is compared to what people do in their regular activities? I think is way more dangerous to sit down for hours straight watching tv. It’s not only bad for you physiscally but mentally is the worst.
What usually gets people hooked on your activity/sport? When they feel the board on the air. That does it.
What is your favorite trick? grabs
What gets you pumped up for the day? Seeing perfect weather conditions.
What are three things you could not live without? Boards, water, sun. My name literally translates to Sea and Sun.
What are your expectations for this activity/sport? Keep improving. Compete some day.
Who have been your biggest supporters in getting you to where you are now? My boyfriend Gerry. He introduced me to wakeboarding, longboarding and wakeskate and has been my coach since.
Who’s your favorite rider/shooter (photo/video)? Larissa Morales and Carolina Rodriguez. Mexican girls rule!
How about in the off season to stay in shape? Crossfit is awesome. Keeps you fit and it’s so much fun.
What is your biggest goal to accomplish this/next season? Land the heelside 180.
What’s your favorite “way” to ride?: Boat, haven’t tried cable but I would love to.
Favorite conditions?: Glassy water, early morning light.
What other extreme/action sports are you into? Rock climing and would love to try snowboard and wakesurf!
Favorite drink of choice to refresh yourself after a long day of riding/shooting? Mineral water with lemon and salt.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Rider!
