Your Name (and Nickname): Lexi Moss (Bones)
Your Age: 22
Your Location (where do you ride mostly):
Weapon(s) of choice: Snowbasin/Mt Hood/Park City
What’s an average day for you like? Morning yoga, probably a hike, or repel and lots of food! Along with meeting new people all the time and hanging with friends.
What is the most difficult part of your activity/sports for a beginner? The easiest? Difficult, being 22 and this is only my third season of snowboarding. I'm working hard to keep up with other girl shredders to see my potential. Easiest, having lots of friends doing the same and pushing me to be my best.
What is the best and worst thing about being female in your sport? Best: Knowing that there is so much room for growth and competition during this time. Worst: there's nothing bad about being a girl in the sport ;)
What would you like to see change in your sport to make it better for you and other female athletes? I think just supporting girls and pushing them to do their thing because we've go to be the change.
Besides your ability and style factor as an athlete, how would you describe your personal style? Probably more on the odd side. A mix of grandma and hippie but there's a little professional side in there too sometimes.
What are your favorite brands/designers for your sports apparel and for stepping out? I really like DC, Nikita, Union, Ride, Nike, SheShreds and definitely lots more.
Let’s hear your thoughts on how important looking good is to feeling good. “Being” your personal best? I think the common saying, "look good, feel good" is as true as it sounds. Whatever I may be doing if I'm comfortable looking the way I want to, I feel good.
How dangerous do u really think it is compared to what people do in their regular activities? I grew up in a family that was all about golf, basketball and every other recreational sport. The transition from those to extreme is, well, extreme. Shooting hoops vs. dropping into a big kicker is, at least for me, terrifying - we can break ourselves. But also one of the best feelings of chills and adrenaline that I can't describe.
I bet in your experience you have seen some crazy crashes. Describe one. I watched my friend's boyfriend go off a jump intentionally landing on the side instead of the landing, putting his arm behind him, he snapped it because it got caught in the slush. That was pretty gnarly.
What usually gets people hooked on your activity/sport? There is a feeling you can't describe being at the top of a mountain. Your options are unlimited and you can always learn something new and I think that really draws people in because as humans we generally want to improve ourselves or our passions.
What is your favorite trick? My favorite that I can do are 360's and back ones off rails. But Silje Norendal does a pretty rodeo and she's got both ways down that I absolutely love.
Do you own any other toys? Slack lines and skate boards!
What gets you pumped up for the day? Meeting new people and learning something everyday!
What are three things you could not live without? Family, a lens and the beautiful outdoors.
What are your expectations for this activity/sport? My goals and dreams might be high but as long as I'm physically healthy I'd love to continue my progress and make it to Xgames.
Who have been your biggest supporters in getting you to where you are now? My parents for sure. The friends I get to ride with and the team at Snowbasin Resort.
Who’s your favorite rider/shooter (photo/video)? Silje Norendal!
What do you do in your spare time when you’re not riding/shooting/competing? I'm always outdoors, hiking repelling, tramps or hanging with friends and eating food all day.
How about in the off season to stay in shape? Yoga all day, every day.
What is your biggest goal to accomplish this/next season? I have to nail the backflip and 360's and 540's both ways.
What do you do to prep for a competition? Before I do anything I always have a Mountain Dew, Monster or chocolate milk and a snickers bar. I don't know why.
What competitions and other awards have you won? Include your non sports accomplishments also. I was first team all state in golf, basketball and soccer. I made the three pointer record my senior year in high school. I won a pie eating contest once.
What’s your favorite “way” to ride? I'm a total park rat. I could hike in a park for ages. I love it. Of course there is no comparison to fresh pow every now and then.
Favorite conditions? Light snowfall with some clouds.
Where would be your biggest dream place to ride and why? Hitting some mountains in Japan. I have family over there so I would love to experience that.
What song(s) do you listen to while riding that puts you in the zone? Depends on my mood. If I'm needing to stay pumped, EDM and some rap but the relaxed days call for some good indie rock.
What turned you on to your sport? My first time snowboarding was three years ago on my first day as a lift operator at Snowbasin. I fell in love with it ever since.
Any new tricks you’re working on? Back flip and 540's
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done in your sport? It was on accident, I hit the box/wall thing and slid out, turned onto my back and ended up doing a back flip off, landing it.
What other extreme/action sports are you into? Skateboarding, wakeboarding and longboarding.
If extreme/action sports didn’t exist, what would you be doing with all the free time you’d have? Jumping in lakes all over or probably stayed with golf.
What’s your favorite board/bike/sled to ride and why? Secret: the only board I've owned/ridden has been a Ride Rapture. I just got a Rome for this season though.
What’s the trick to riding features and not killing yourself ? Commitment
How would you describe your riding style? Entertaining
What would you say is your signature trick? Backside Boardslide
Favorite drink of choice to refresh yourself after a long day of riding/shooting? Drink Water!! or nice Coke
What do you want to be when you grow up? I start flight attending in two weeks so hopefully if that works out, I'll be that soon and a well known snowboarder.
