What does SheShredsCo mean to you?

SheShreds is a community of women who support each other. I don’t think I realized how powerful a community like this could be until I saw it happen. There is so much negativity around us, which makes this a really rad place to come and feel positivity. This group of girls is helping push each other in our sports and supporting each other through all the ups and downs of life. I am truly inspired by each and every female in this family.

How did you get hooked on your favorite action sport(s)?

I started skiing as a young girl, and luckily had some really cool parents who bought me my first pair of skis. However, we moved to the Midwest when I was still a kid, so I didn’t ski for many years. As a young adult I got hooked on watching Dew Tour and XGames and felt a calling to get back to the snow which took me to Colorado to live for a few years. I’m back in Iowa now, but my love for skiing and snow and mountains is ever growing.

What challenges do you face being a female in the sport?

I don’t compete in any of my sports, so I don’t feel the challenges as much as some of the other SheShreds girls; but I see it and hear about it a lot. I will continue to be a voice with these women to force action sports to make positive changes for equality.

Where is the most unusual or exciting place you have done your sport?

It seems like almost every time I get out to ski, hike or bike it is unusual or exciting. I try to find new places all of the time. I just rode a fat bike in about 4 inches of snow on a local bike trail in Iowa, which was really rad. Sometimes I forget that you can find epic places in your own backyard.

What has been your most memorable moment so far?

When you think of your most memorable moment, it is usually positive, but mine is a little bit different. Several years ago I broke my humerus snowboarding. It resulted in having to be taken off the mountain on the sled, in an ambulance to the hospital and emergency surgery. Injury aside, this was a defining moment for me. The impact on my mental game was intense. I found that I could not get back on a snowboard. I got back into skiing, but I am still hesitant and cautious, but I am trying to learn to push past that. I’ve become more cautious in all my sports because of this accident and have even missed out on things I’ve always wanted to do out of this fear. Every time I get out there I am working to overcome, and I will continue this battle for a long time. But I have also learned that I am strong, and I can do anything, but I need good people around me for support.

Who/what are your inspirations

I am truly inspired by the girls in our SheShreds family. I’ve watched many of these girls overcome obstacles, excel in their sport and blow past any limitation they thought they had. I don’t think I would be doing half of the things I am doing at my age if it weren’t for the inspiration and encouragement I get from this crew every day.

Favorite thing about SheShreds products?

SheShreds products are designed and tested by real girls. By me. We put out apparel that is equal parts fashion and function. I honestly only hype the pieces that I personally wear, but that is pretty much every item! The photos you see are the SheShreds ambassadors wearing the products in real life, doing real sports.
