What’s an average day for you like? Toddler kisses, coffee, coffee, coffee, a little work, whatever adventure I can find, sleep...
What is the most difficult part of your activity/sports for a beginner? The easiest? The most difficult part for women in mountain biking is the intimidation factor. It's a largely complex and expensive sport lead predominately by men, and this can be such a deterrent to many women. I think joining a group of humble, technical lady riders is the way to get into the sport and come out with smiles.
I've been on skis since I was 2, and snowboarding for around 20 years, so it's difficult to me to relate as well to beginners; however, sticking with it, and making sure you have good gear will make the adventure a lot more fun and smooth!
What is the best and worst thing about being female in your sport? The best part about being a female mountain biker and snowboarder is the ability to lead and inspire others. We're able to show them that it's possible to ride like the boys, and it's great!
Besides your ability and style factor as an athlete, how would you describe your personal style? Nerdy by day, Flannels and hoodies by night. But I can be inclined to clean up occasionally and throw on a cute dress.
What are your favorite brands/designers for your sports apparel and for stepping out? The brands that drive a lot of my performance (and I am not obligated to say this!) are Fly Racing, Smith Optics and helmets, Bell Helmets, and 5-10 shoes. When I'm not riding, I love a good pair of jeans, Vans, SheShreds, and Patagonia anything!
Let’s hear your thoughts on how important looking good is to feeling good. “Being” your personal best? I love this question because I frequently get comments on what I'm wearing primarily because it usually consists of pinks/purples and anything really girly. I know a lot of women prefer to look just like the boys and don't want special attention, but I love feeling feminine especially when I'm getting really dirty and rowdy. If I feel like I look good, I ride good!
