What does SheShredsCo mean to you?
I'm no youngster here when compared to the majority of my rad SheShreds Sisters. So, for me, SheShreds is a really fantastic opportunity to connect with other female athletes, share our passions for our sports, and to show the rest of the world our enthusiasm and bad-assery. I don't live near where most of the meet ups usually happen, so I haven't had the opportunity to get in on the SheShreds action in that regard, but I think that is a pretty awesome aspect of this organization - bringing female athletes from all walks of life together to share their passions! That is what SheShreds means to me.
How did you get hooked on your favorite action sport(s)? Wakesurfing was just something we did for silly fun for many years. It wasn't until I ventured out beyond my tiny little lake community and went to a wakesurf and wake boat demo in GA 4 years ago that I realized the amazing potential of the sport, and that was when everything changed for me. I'm embarking on my 3rd competitive season now.
What challenges do you face being a female in the sport? I do notice in the competitive wakesurfing world that, sometimes, women are treated a little differently. I've witnessed times when a female rider was treated 'gently' because the judges were afraid she was going to be upset about something someone said. I think that is ridiculous. Treat everyone fairly!! But, otherwise, I honestly think that the women in my sport progress WAY faster than the men.
Where is the most unusual or exciting place you have done your sport? I've wakesurfed in PA, VA, NC, SC, GA and FL. While there is nothing particularly eye-opening about any of the bodies of water I have surfed, I would say that the most awesome surfing experience I have had to date is night surfing with a neon-lit wave in Virginia. SO much fun!
What has been your most memorable moment so far? Landing back-to-back 360's at Nationals last year.
Who/what are your inspirations: Fellow SheShreds sister Colleen Cain would be my first inspirational shout out. She's always there when I have questions about our competitions and she's just awesome to watch and ride with. And she's a great friend. And for simply being amazed by her riding ability, I can't imagine there is a surf style wakesurfing woman who isn't just mind-blown by Ashley Kidd. She's just a bad ass rider.
Favorite thing about SheShreds products? I LOVE the baseball tees. They are my favorite. I think I have 4 of them and I wear them all the time. And the designs that the ambassadors and staff come up with are pretty awesome.
Link to photos for your profile and application video in your Google Drive folder: What are the requirements for a video? I'm in my off season, but could try and put something together from last season if need be. I didn't see anything in the Google Drive files that outlines anything about an application video? Thanks for your help on this.
