Your Age: 25
Your Location (where do you ride mostly): UK
Weapon(s) of choice: Snowboard, Longboard, Hands and Feet!
What’s an average day for you like? I work full-time caring for the elderly, which I absolutely love! When I get home, I choose my ‘weapon of choice’ and go play! I try to mix it up a little - I live in a small rainy town so it isn’t always possible to go skate…
What would you like to see change in your sport to make it better for you and other female athletes? I would love to see more females in my local area getting into these sports so that we can start growing a community of women who love to shred! Sharing experiences, stories and tips with each other would help with confidence!
Besides your ability and style factor as an athlete, how would you describe your personal style? Chilled.
What are your favorite brands/designers for your sports apparel and for stepping out? To be honest, i’m not overly obsessed with brands - if I like it, I will wear it - regardless of the label! If I HAD to choose - SheShreds of course! Element, Burton, Vans, Volcom and Nikita have some pretty rad stuff!
Let’s hear your thoughts on how important looking good is to feeling good. “Being” your personal best? Look Good —> Feel Good —> Build Confidence —> Shred HARD!
Do you own any other toys? I’m lucky enough to have a huge selection of longboards to choose from, skateboards, penny boards, surfboard, snowboard, my van and camping equipment, yoga mat, GoPro, digital and polaroid cameras and I love making/editing pictures to do with all of the above!
What gets you pumped up for the day? Being on the first lift of the day with your riding buddy! Thinkin’ of the day’s possibilities… that’s when the butterflies start!
What are three things you could not live without? The amazing people that surround me, humour and adventure!
What are your expectations for this activity/sport? Never settle, always push yourself to be better and set goals as you go.
Who have been your biggest supporters in getting you to where you are now? My fiance, Sid, who shares my passions, helps me progress and gives me confidence.
Who’s your favorite rider/shooter (photo/video)? My fiance! Oh and Silje Norendal, Jamie Anderson, Malia Jones and Mimi Knoop are all pretty cool.
What do you do in your spare time when you’re not riding/shooting/competing? My family and my friends are my main focus. I would be nowhere and nothing without them, so I spend as much time as I can with those around me. When they have had enough of my rubbish jokes, I learn a new song on the piano, take trips in our little van, camping/hiking or eating my body weight in food!
How about in the off season to stay in shape? The cool thing about where I live is that if the weather isn’t up to much, I can always do another sport I love! I can skate in my town. I can ride an hour or so away on some decent waves, or can ride an hour or so away on some indoor snow! Other things to keep me busy are my very physical job, yoga, swimming, roller derby and to keep my mind in shape I write and draw as much as I can.
What’s your favorite “way” to ride? Freeride! Beginner in the park!
Favorite conditions? Fresh powder on a blue bird for snow. Sunny, dry and no wind for skate.
Where would be your biggest dream place to ride and why? New Zealand, so that I can play around in every sport I love whilst seeing some pretty sick stuff!
What song(s) do you listen to while riding that puts you in the zone? I don’t often listen to music when riding/skating - I love listening to the sounds of nature. The ‘shhhhhhhhhhhhh’ of my wheels against concrete or the sounds of people falling over/laughing/playing in the snow. When I rarely put music on, it will be something along the lines of Jimi Hendrix, Less Than Jake, Bob Marley, The Distillers, The Kinks, Rage Against the Machine, Rush.
If extreme/action sports didn’t exist, what would you be doing with all the free time you’d have? Travel, travel, travel!
What’s your favorite board/bike/sled to ride and why? Snowboard - Roxy Radiance. Long- Loaded Dervish
What’s the trick to riding features and not killing yourself? Don’t be afraid to pad up or wear a lid! Being safe is cool - being dead isn’t!
How would you describe your riding style? Chilled and fun.
Favorite drink of choice to refresh yourself after a long day of riding/shooting? Hot chocolate with all the trimmings!
What do you want to be when you grow up? I never will!
