Your Age:11

Your Location (where do you ride mostly):Alexandria, MN

Weapon(s) of choice:  For Snowboarding I ride a Burton Feelgood with Union bindings.  I am a huge supporter of Burton.  Two winters ago, I had a binding malfunction on my first run at a snowboard comp.  Burton had a tent set up and was doing a demo day so I went to ask for some spare parts.  The Burton Rep took one look at my bindings and set me up with a new set of bindings, in minutes I was back on the hill.  Customer for life!!!

In wakesurfing,  it’s Brigade Wakesurfing Company all the way.  I ride the Brigade Aviator, a Brigade SKM and a Brigade Rogue.  The Aviator is a surf style board and the other two are skim style boards.  We have a 2016 Supreme S226 that just arrived last week.

What’s an average day for you like?  Every day is different for me.  It just depends on what activities are scheduled for the day.

What is the most difficult part of your activity/sports for a beginner? The easiest?  In wakesurfing you have really good balance and since you don’t have bindings, it is difficult to get up and get your balance.  Getting up the first time is definitely the most difficult.  Once you learn how to get it is really easy. Then comes the elusive 360.  One day you have it, the next day you don’t!

What is the best and worst thing about being female in your sport?  There are just fewer number of female riders in comps.  I have done local snowboard comps and all the other female riders are over 16. In December I did a local snowboard comp where I was the only female.  They treated me FABULOUS though!!

What would you like to see change in your sport to make it better for you and other female athletes?  More female only comps.  They are a blast.

Besides your ability and style factor as an athlete, how would you describe your personal style?  I like to have a great time in everything I do.  I’m not afraid to admit I’m a little silly sometimes.

What are your favorite brands/designers for your sports apparel and for stepping out?  Sheshreds of course!  Love the new winter line!  I like Roxy and Burton and Volcom.

Let’s hear your thoughts on how important looking good is to feeling good. “Being” your personal best?  If I feel good, I look good…If I look good, I feel good!!

How dangerous do u really think it is compared to what people do in their regular activities?  Snowboarding can be really dangerous.  If you hit a jump wrong or if you slide off a rail, you can get hurt pretty bad.  I always wear a mouth guard and helmet during practice and comps.  I have plenty of bruises in the winter months.  Wakesurfing is pretty tame.  Mostly just sliding out of the wave.  I have taken a surf board to the shin though…that HURTS!

I bet in your experience you have seen some crazy crashes. Describe one. The worst crash I had last year was on an icy 25ft jump. I slid out on the take-off and landed on my lower back on the knuckle. I bounced so high. When I saw the video I was amazed I wasn’t hurt worse. It was a crazy wipeout!
What usually gets people hooked on your activity/sport?

What usually gets people hooked on your activity/sport?  Both of my sports are so much fun, how could you not get HOOKED!

What is your favorite trick?  Front 360’s off jumps in snowboarding and revert backside 180 in wakesurfing.

Do you own any other toys?  The trampoline is the other go-to toy at our house.  I spend hours on it!

What gets you pumped up for the day?  Looking out and seeing fresh powder or a glassy lake.

What are three things you could not live without?  Snow, a boat, and God…not in that order of course.

What are your expectations for this activity/sport?  I just want to keep growing and learning new tricks.  Progression is my main focus

Who have been your biggest supporters in getting you to where you are now?  My family, for sure.  I especially like trying to keep up with my older brother.

Who’s your favorite rider/shooter (photo/video)?  Christy Prior for snowboarding.  All the pro women are amazing in wakesurfing.  Wakesurfing is still very new so you get to know everyone really easy.  The comps are a ton of fun.

What do you do in your spare time when you’re not riding/shooting/competing?  I play on a U10 soccer team.  It’s really busy but keeps me in shape.  I hang out with my friends any chance I get.  My friends are the BEST!

How about in the off season to stay in shape?  I don’t have much of an off season but I do trampoline constantly.   I also play soccer and am a big runner.  I’ve done several 5K’s lately.

What is your biggest goal to accomplish this/next season?  This year my USASA goal is to finish top 5 in Slopestyle.  I just missed it last year finishing 6th.    In wakesurfing, I hope to qualify for the World Championships again in Women’s Amateur Skim.

What do you do to prep for a competition?  In snowboarding, my coach Blake and I sing silly songs until it’s my turn to ride.  Sometimes we’ve been known to bust-a-move!  He’s great at keeping me distracted.

What competitions and other awards have you won? Include your non sports accomplishments also.

What’s your favorite “way” to ride( wake sport- specific, cable, boat, winch)(Snowsport specific- park, freeride/backcountry, urban)?  In snowboarding I love a great terrain park but nothing beats a freeride on a fresh powder day.

Favorite conditions?  The first major snow storm of the season.  Everyone is pumped to ride.

Where would be your biggest dream place to ride and why? I want to wakesurf on Canyon Lake in Arizona.  It is a beautiful setting, plus it’s warm unlike Minnesota usually.  No wetsuit!!  I would love to spend a week snowboarding all the Tahoe area resorts.

What song(s) do you listen to while riding that puts you in the zone?  I like 80’s music.

What turned you on to your sport?  My brother Cole started competing in snowboarding and surfing so I thought I’d better try to out-do him.

Any new tricks you’re working on?  I am working on 360’s in both surfing and snowboarding.

What other extreme/action sports are you into?  I keep trying to skateboard but I think I’m just going to end up hurt.

If extreme/action sports didn’t exist, what would you be doing with all the free time you’d have?  Soccer for sure!  I love it and my team is so much fun to hang out with.  They are the best group of girls ever!

What’s your favorite board/bike/sled to ride and why?  Burton Feelgood snowboard and Brigade SKM surf board

What’s the trick to riding features and not killing yourself ?  Commit!  And if you fail, try it AGAIN!

How would you describe your riding style?  I’m all about having fun.

Favorite drink of choice to refresh yourself after a long day of riding/shooting?
Water. I’m like the only person I know who doesn’t like pop.

What do you want to be when you grow up?  Something in the medical profession.  I need to be able to afford a great boat and lift tickets.
