What’s an average day for you like? I work as a flight paramedic and play as a mountain girl. When not in the sky you can find me in the backcountry.
What is the most difficult part of your activity/sports for a beginner? The easiest? Confidence is the most difficult part when starting out in any new sport, it's thought being a beginner! The easiest part is the wicked awesome friends you meet along the way.
What is the best and worst thing about being female in your sport? I've often been the only girl in the kickboxing gym, or the only girl on a trip to the backcountry, but when you meet other girls who are like-minded and into your sport you're instantly the best of friends.
What would you like to see change in your sport to make it better for you and other female athletes? More girls out there supporting each other, shredding the gnar, loving and accepting each other no matter what their ability is what I love to see.
Besides your ability and style factor as an athlete, how would you describe your personal style? Rockstar/gypsy.
What are your favorite brands/designers for your sports apparel and for stepping out? I love my Salomon gear and can usually be found in lululemons 24-7... With the right footwear it's socially acceptable to wear yoga pants to any and all social events.
Let’s hear your thoughts on how important looking good is to feeling good. “Being” your personal best? I always paint my nails black before any race to let my inner rockstar shine. When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good you do good!
How dangerous do you really think it is compared to what people do in their regular activities? There is a certain amount of controlled danger that you have to be willing to accept if you charge hard lines in the mountains and fight Muay Thai kickboxing in the gym - but the risk is worth the reward, and if you train hard and prepare appropriately you can minimize the risks and have great time.
I bet in your experience you have seen some crazy crashes. Describe one. Last spring I was coming down a steep run at Sunshine Ski Resort, caught an edge and tomahawked to the bottom. One binding failed to release and I tore my left ACL and damaged my right meniscus. My world was shattered when it happened, but I have to tell you, I met lifelong friends after surgery and physio who underwent the same injury, and the friendship and support I've found has helped me to come back stronger and better than ever before!
What usually gets people hooked on your activity/sport? In the mountains, all it takes is one run down hill, feeling like Cinderella in a snow-suit ball gown, and you'll be smiling so big and so hard that your face will hurt and you'll be hooked for life. In the boxing ring, when you realize how powerful you actually are, you'll be stoked on the feeling of knowing how to defend yourself in any situation.
What is your favorite trick? You won't find me doing many progressive tricks in the park - I'm all about charging hard lines and the confidence that comes with that.
Do you own any other toys? I'm into Muay Thai kickboxing, so I have a bunch of training gear, punching bags, etc. I'm also a certified World Amateur Kickboxing Organization (WAKO) coach and corner person, and really love training and teaching other girls and seeing the confidence that comes with learning new skills.
What gets you pumped up for the day?I start every morning with a big cup of coffee and write in my journal what I want to accomplish for the day.
What are three things you could not live without? Skis, yoga pants, and chocolate.
What are your expectations for this activity/sport? I want to see female skiing taken to the next level and more of us ladies banning together!
Who have been your biggest supporters in getting you to where you are now? My mama bear is my biggest supporter and bestest friend.
Who’s your favorite rider/shooter (photo/video)? Lynsey Dyer has done and continues to do so much for female skiers. In the kickboxing and MMA world, Ronda Rousey continues to inspire and spread the message of "be more".
What do you do in your spare time when you’re not riding/shooting/competing? I write for magazines such as Highline, and also for an adventure blog - UnchartedExpedition.com
How about in the off season to stay in shape? The great thing about running and yoga is that you can do it anywhere you find yourself in the world, which keeps me in shape when I'm working as a flight paramedic in Northern Canada.
What is your biggest goal to accomplish this/next season? This season I skied and toured in the backcountry with a complete ACL tear and damaged meniscus, prior to surgery. With the help of my physiotherapist it was possible, and I'm so stoked for next season!!
What do you do to prep for a competition? Cardio, cardio, cardio!
What competitions and other awards have you won? Include your non sports accomplishments also. I was awarded the honor of MVP for the Holland College XC running team during paramedic school. I've completed over a dozen half-marathons since and continue.
What’s your favorite “way” to ride? I'm in love with the backcountry. Walking up a mountain, earning your turns, and skiing down is the best feeling.

Where would be your biggest dream place to ride and why? I would love to one day ride in Alaska - the skier dream.
What song(s) do you listen to while riding that puts you in the zone? Nikki Costa's "Everybody Got Their Something".
What turned you on to your sport? In skiing, my first trip to the Rocky Mountains had me packing my stuff up and moving to the mountains!
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done in your sport? Living in the Rocky Mountains and skiing everyday is just awesome. Backcountry hiking into the majestic Mount Robson area was especially special also... Nothing like a 100km trek to really get to know yourself and and friends you're with.
What other extreme/action sports are you into? Other than skiing and Muay Thai kickboxing, I've started to learn more MMA and self defense styles and have also taken up Mountain Biking.
If extreme/action sports didn’t exist, what would you be doing with all the free time you’d have? I would be searching for extreme/action sports.
What’s your favorite board/bike/sled to ride and why? I love my all-mountain Salomon Lumens. They're super versatile, and I've taken them into the backcountry and to the resorts.
What’s the trick to riding features and not killing yourself? Confidence. If you attack with confidence, in all aspects of life and play, you can accomplish things you never thought possible.
How would you describe your riding style? Hard charging.
What would you say is your signature trick? I'm not super into the park, so you'll find me on steep lines and in the backcountry working up a sweat.
Favorite drink of choice to refresh yourself after a long day of riding/shooting? I'm all about charging hard lines and drinking fine wines.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I'll never grow up!
